Ok, so 20 weeks out of 40! Halfway there. In a lot of ways, this pregnancy has been flying by, but I'm also super anxious for the next 20 weeks to hurry up and fly by, too.
Size of baby: A banana - that's huge! 6.5" and over 10 1/2 ounces!
Weight gain: I don't want to talk about it. Haha, kidding. I haven't seen this number on the scale since my first year at Western, but growing babies are healthy babies, so I'm ok with it (sort of).
Maternity clothes: Yes, it is becoming a little more difficult. Dresses are still tough. I ordered a new dress (maternity) for my upcoming baby shower, but it didn't arrive in time. Boo. Still loving my lulus, but I wish they had some with the waist band that can fold up over the belly. Got some new lulu stuff, thanks to my birthday gift from Renée!
Nursery: It is done! Well, we don't have half of the stuff we need yet (like a crib mattress, change pad for the dresser, diaper genie, all of that jazz), because it is still on the baby registry, but everything that we have décor-wise is set up and looking great. I am so thrilled with how Squish's room is turning out. Sometimes I just like to hang out in there and imagine what life will be like. Trey does, too. It is so calm and peaceful. Last night he was supposed to be studying for his citizenship test and he fell asleep on the day bed. So cute. I will post some photos soon.
Development / Movement: Guess what??!!! I felt baby kick!!! It was the coolest feeling ever. It happened Tuesday evening (September 17), as we were laying on the couch together. I think it helped that I had an icy cold drink of pomegranate juice. It is hard to describe what it feels like, but it was quite obvious. I am now going to try to feel kicks as often as possible! Last night, the little peanut was doing flips and dancing in there at midnight. It kind of tickles, and I love it. Trey can feel it some of the time, too!
Sleep: Now that I'm nice and comfortable with my nest at night, I don't move. This makes for achy joints in the morning, but I'm sleeping well.
What I miss: My clothes. Wine. Sprint intervals and other super intense workouts.
Best moment this week: Feeling baby kick was a definite high! I have enjoyed having Trey home this week. We have had some lunches together at home, and have been doing lots around the house. I have even started sewing my own receiving blankets, some for friends' babies, and a couple of really nice blankets with satin binding, too. I found tons of adorable flannel fabric and am having fun making things myself!
Looking forward to: We leave for our round trip visit home (to both Indy and Toronto) tomorrow morning! Can't wait to see everyone. Also super excited for the baby shower that my lovely Mom and sister, Stace are throwing for me. They're the absolute best and I know it will be so much fun. I am so glad I'll get to see so many of my girlfriends/aunts/cousins in such a short trip!
Cravings: Ginger ale.
Symptoms: Achy belly. Apparently, as the muscles in my stomach stretch, they can ache and throb. I find it most noticeable if I make sudden movements that involve a twist or some kind of stretching of the abdomen. My fingers are also swelling.
Workouts: I only made it to Bar Method twice this week, as I was swamped with design work and helping Trey with the nursery. Planning on doing some workouts in Indianapolis and Aurora.

19 Weeks
Wow, I can't believe we are almost half way there! Time has gone so fast (and so slow at the same time). I am ready to meet this baby, so I keep telling Squish to hurry up and grow!
Size of baby: Squishy is as big as a mango! 6" long and 8 1/2 ounces!
Weight gain: I just weighed myself and was horrified. I'm gaining steadily, that's for sure! I am now up about 6 lbs over my original weight.
Maternity clothes: There was a sale on asos.com this week and I purchased a few new maternity dresses, since dressing up seems to be my trouble spot. I don't think anything will arrive before my trip home, so I may have to wear something I already have for the baby shower. Thankfully I have something in mind.
Nursery: Trey is off next week before he starts his new job and he has been amazing. He wants to get all of the rest of the little jobs done in the nursery that I need him to do (the ones that involve drilling, filling holes, lifting heavy things, and so on. I grabbed a few things that we needed, so it should go smoothly next week. I'll have to post some photos in a few weeks once it gets cleaned up and organized!
Development / Movement: Baby is developing a protective coating over his/her skin and is developing the five senses. The 20-week ultrasound is coming up, and they should be able to determine baby's gender... but we will be asking them not to tell us. Are we crazy? I love that we are keeping it a surprise.
Sleep: I'm getting used to my little "cocoon", as Trey calls it. I'm sleeping better and have been getting lots done during the day.
What I miss: My former weight (haha). My body doesn't seem to be changing much composition-wise aside from my belly, but I certainly am getting bigger and rounder.
Best moment this week: I was pretty busy this week working on a large design project that I have going. I had another amazing facial, and a good chat with my sister for her birthday. I also did a few Bar Method classes, so that was fun.
Looking forward to: Finishing the nursery next week and completing my big design project are two big ones. Today is also the Stu Bell Charity Classic golf tournament. Trey is playing in it and I'm spending my day with Anita and Linden - then we will head up for the reception. My business, Design Project is sponsoring the event and donating art for the silent auction. I know my friends have been really working hard at making it happen (Renee, Stu, and Christie who is working as their event planner). We leave on the 23rd to visit our families in Indianapolis and Toronto, so we're really looking forward to that trip.
Cravings: Same kinds of things as usual. Nothing new.
Symptoms: Headaches. I am prone to headaches anyway, but I seem to get them a little more often in pregnancy.
Workouts: Bar Method is awesome. I have a busy week next week, so I don't know how many times I will be able to go, but I'm loving it. Burn, baby, burn!

18 Weeks
Size of baby: Sweet potato. Baby is 5.6" long and almost 7 ounces! Growing fast.
Weight gain: I have finally gained weight! A whole 6 pounds since my last doctor's appointment last month. This puts me at about my normal weight, since I was losing every month prior to this. I definitely feel bigger than that, though. My belly is growing!
Maternity clothes: I am finding that I'm wearing a lot of the same things because some of my clothing items just don't work for maternity. I'm having trouble finding dresses (yeah, shocker). I have so many dresses, but so many of them just don't work with a belly. Hopefully I can find something cute to wear to the baby shower my Mom and Stace are hosting for me in a couple of weeks in Aurora.
Nursery: Trey and I did a little bit more this week. I picked up some floating shelves in cream, he took the door off the closet so that we can hang a curtain panel instead. Next week we'll be hanging curtains, the mobile, and finishing off as much as we can (with what we have so far).
Development / Movement: Baby can do all kinds of new things! Squish can yawn, hiccup, suck his/her thumb, swallow, punch and kick. I have not felt the kicks yet, but I am waiting for it every day!
Sleep: Still not sleeping my usual perfect night's sleep, but I really can't complain. I've found a way to cocoon myself between my maternity pillow and my regular king pillow so that I can get comfortable on both sides.
What I miss: Still missing being blonde. I'm doing this for the baby, though... and my hair is so much healthier when I'm brunette. Still missing wine, too. I want a big glass of red wine with dinner.
Best moment this week: I liked learning that I've gained weight at the doctor's office. Also loved hearing baby's heart beat, as usual. We had a beautiful dinner at Nafeesa and Zaman's place Thursday night. She cooked Indian food and it was to die for... plus the company was nice, too!
Looking forward to: Brunch tomorrow with Renée and Stu, a facial on Monday, and some more Bar Method classes. I'm looking forward to everything about being a Mom. I think about it all the time.
Cravings: Cheese and pickles. Nothing new here!
Symptoms: A big belly and boobs. Still growing, as they probably will continue to do.
Workouts: Bar Method! Loving it so much and my legs feel great.
