Ok, so 20 weeks out of 40! Halfway there. In a lot of ways, this pregnancy has been flying by, but I'm also super anxious for the next 20 weeks to hurry up and fly by, too.
Size of baby: A banana - that's huge! 6.5" and over 10 1/2 ounces!
Weight gain: I don't want to talk about it. Haha, kidding. I haven't seen this number on the scale since my first year at Western, but growing babies are healthy babies, so I'm ok with it (sort of).
Maternity clothes: Yes, it is becoming a little more difficult. Dresses are still tough. I ordered a new dress (maternity) for my upcoming baby shower, but it didn't arrive in time. Boo. Still loving my lulus, but I wish they had some with the waist band that can fold up over the belly. Got some new lulu stuff, thanks to my birthday gift from Renée!
Nursery: It is done! Well, we don't have half of the stuff we need yet (like a crib mattress, change pad for the dresser, diaper genie, all of that jazz), because it is still on the baby registry, but everything that we have décor-wise is set up and looking great. I am so thrilled with how Squish's room is turning out. Sometimes I just like to hang out in there and imagine what life will be like. Trey does, too. It is so calm and peaceful. Last night he was supposed to be studying for his citizenship test and he fell asleep on the day bed. So cute. I will post some photos soon.
Development / Movement: Guess what??!!! I felt baby kick!!! It was the coolest feeling ever. It happened Tuesday evening (September 17), as we were laying on the couch together. I think it helped that I had an icy cold drink of pomegranate juice. It is hard to describe what it feels like, but it was quite obvious. I am now going to try to feel kicks as often as possible! Last night, the little peanut was doing flips and dancing in there at midnight. It kind of tickles, and I love it. Trey can feel it some of the time, too!
Sleep: Now that I'm nice and comfortable with my nest at night, I don't move. This makes for achy joints in the morning, but I'm sleeping well.
What I miss: My clothes. Wine. Sprint intervals and other super intense workouts.
Best moment this week: Feeling baby kick was a definite high! I have enjoyed having Trey home this week. We have had some lunches together at home, and have been doing lots around the house. I have even started sewing my own receiving blankets, some for friends' babies, and a couple of really nice blankets with satin binding, too. I found tons of adorable flannel fabric and am having fun making things myself!
Looking forward to: We leave for our round trip visit home (to both Indy and Toronto) tomorrow morning! Can't wait to see everyone. Also super excited for the baby shower that my lovely Mom and sister, Stace are throwing for me. They're the absolute best and I know it will be so much fun. I am so glad I'll get to see so many of my girlfriends/aunts/cousins in such a short trip!
Cravings: Ginger ale.
Symptoms: Achy belly. Apparently, as the muscles in my stomach stretch, they can ache and throb. I find it most noticeable if I make sudden movements that involve a twist or some kind of stretching of the abdomen. My fingers are also swelling.
Workouts: I only made it to Bar Method twice this week, as I was swamped with design work and helping Trey with the nursery. Planning on doing some workouts in Indianapolis and Aurora.
