Size of baby: Pomegranate (is that really bigger than a banana?). 10 1/2 " and over 12 ounces. Growing and growing!
Weight gain: I will update this tomorrow once I am weighed on a properly calibrated scale at the doctor's office. The one at home can't possibly be correct... can it? ;)
** UPDATE ** I am up 8.4lbs this month, and a whopping 13 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. Doctor says this is all normal. Apparently I should be gaining about 2 lbs per week in the second trimester, which is spot-on. Since I lost weight my entire first trimester, gaining a little more in the second is a good thing. Hallelujah!
Maternity clothes: My maternity dresses arrived in the mail and they're super cute. A couple of them are even kinda glam, and don't really look like maternity dresses at all. Love it. I'm finding I pretty much have to wear maternity tops and pants, unless it is an occasion for a hoodie and leggings.
Nursery: The nursery got a nice little boost this week after our baby shower in Aurora! Everyone was so generous. I have been washing new clothes and blankets in my baby detergent, setting up a new vibrating chair, diaper genie, all kinds of fun things! Plus we have new books for the book shelf. We really are so lucky.
Development / Movement: Squish's digestive system is preparing for the outside world and baby is already manufacturing the fun stuff we'll find in the first few diapers (gross!). I can also tell you that s/he kicks like crazy! At our 2nd trimester ultrasound yesterday, Trey got to see Squish double-leg donkey kick me at the same time that I felt it. It was pretty cool. The internet is telling me we need to start narrowing our baby name list. I'm finding it hard! We're down to about 6 for a girl and 9 for a boy.... but we do sort of have some favourites.
Sleep: While we were away last week, neither of us slept amazingly well, but now that we're back in our own bed, it is bliss once again. I could have used a nap today, but didn't have the time. Maybe tomorrow I'll nap in the baby's room.
What I miss: My family. Going home is always nice and leaving is always difficult. We're always happy to be home in Vancouver and in our own house, but I miss them tons.
Best moment this week: The whole week was awesome! We visited with so many people in both Indianapolis and Aurora. I loved going to the apple orchard with Trey, Mom and Stace, spending time with Trey's family (so many cute kids and a new baby, too!), but the baby shower had to be the highlight. I loved seeing so many people I love so much, and Mom and Stace did an amazing job with every little detail. Lastly, I'm also very proud of my hubby for writing (and he thinks acing) his Canadian citizenship test today. Having him get his Canadian citizenship is going to be a very special day for all of us.
Looking forward to: Some quiet time and some visits with friends before Trey and I take off on our "baby moon" (our LAST trip as a couple before baby Squish enters into our world!). We leave for LA for Thanksgiving weekend and before that we are having a few get-togethers, a dinner party, and some visits with friends we haven't seen in a while... plus some quiet time at home, which is always nice.
Cravings: After a week of indulgence at both of our families' homes, I'm craving healthy food. I guess I always do crave that, but more so. We had a cheese and sugar overload last week (haha - not complaining!), but I'm ready for lots of fresh fruit, veggies, and fall home cooking.
Symptoms: Swollen hands. Not so much that I notice visually, but I can't wear my wedding rings. Bigger belly, naturally. Leg cramps at night (like growing pains).
Workouts: Nothing last week except for a few good walks, including taking Stacey's dog, Sophie to run around a trail, which was fun. I didn't run, the dog did - but it was a good, long walk on a beautiful fall day. Back to Bar Method and the gym this week!
I will post some baby shower photos next week!
