If you could dream up the perfect person to go through this with, you'd get an idea of what my husband is like. From day one, he has been the most supportive, loving, understanding partner.
Trey has patiently listened and watched each time I show him a new baby "thing" I picked up or each of the onesies we received at the baby shower. He went with me to set up our baby registry and didn't complain when it took over 2 hours. He has read tons of books and really prepared himself for fatherhood. He always wants an instant update after every doctor's appointment, and is truly engaged when I tell him about baby's development each week.
Even though I am home during the day and he is at work, he tells me not to cook or clean but to rest... (I can't do that, of course - but he is sweet for telling me to lay down and put my feet up)... and after work, he is always there to help me prepare dinner. I think every single night he has given me a foot rub or a back rub and is always telling me I look beautiful.
At night, he talks to the baby and tells Squishy how much we love him/her. He rubs my belly with lotions and oils at night, and helps me get up out of bed to go to the bathroom when I have trouble manoeuvring.
I have lots of experience with babies, but Trey hasn't had much. He has really made an effort to learn how to take care of a baby - from reading, to helping with Linden (changing diapers, feeding, etc.), to taking an infant and child first aid/CPR course with me, to the prenatal class.
I don't know what I expected, but he has gone above and beyond as a Daddy-to-be and I am so lucky to have him. I can't wait to see what he is like with our baby and to watch the baby develop and display bits of Trey's personality. I couldn't dream of a better man to raise a child with and I know he will teach our baby to grow up to be a kind, giving, responsible, fun-loving person.
I love you, honey!!!
